Exploring Ethnicity, Race, and the Gospel

This course will help you understand your own ethnic and racial journey, in light of the gospel, by using The Big Story Gospel outline. With this foundation, you can enter these campus conversations with confidence and humility.

Description

This course guides participants to explore their ethnic and racial identities through the lens of the gospel using The Big Story framework. Learners will gain tools to better understand their personal journeys and how these intersect with their faith. The curriculum covers foundational topics such as the image of God, the reality of racial brokenness, and pathways to healing and restoration in Jesus. By mapping their own experiences and engaging with practical exercises, participants will become more equipped to engage in meaningful conversations about ethnicity and race on campus. The course encourages self-reflection, storytelling, and action steps for growth in a ministry context.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand your ethnic and racial story using The Big Story gospel outline; articulate the concept of multiethnicity and its importance for campus ministry; understand the racial and ethnic identity journey in light of the gospel; map your own racial and/or ethnic identity journey along the four circles and identify next steps for growth.
